Principal photography began last week on EUPHORIA, the English-language directorial debut of award-winning Swedish writer and director Lisa Langseth, which stars Alicia Vikander (Academy Award® winner for THE DANISH GIRL, the upcoming THE LIGHT BETWEEN OCEANS), Eva Green (CASINO ROYALE, Tim Burton’s forthcoming MISS PEREGRINE’S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN) and Charlotte Rampling (45 YEARS). The film will shoot on location in Bavaria following a short location shoot in Munich.
The film tells the story of Ines (Vikander) and Emilie (Green), two sisters meeting up again after many years apart and the profound journey that they undertake together.
Joining the supporting cast are Charles Dance, most recently seen on the big screen in ME BEFORE YOU and Paul Feig’s GHOSTBUSTERS; Adrian Lester, whose award winning stage and screen work includes PRIMARY COLORS and the title roles in Othello and Henry V for the National Theatre, and rising British star Mark Stanley (Clio Bernard’s forthcoming DARK RIVER, KILO TWO BRAVO/KAJAKI).
EUPHORIA is the first feature from Vikander’s Vikarious Productions, the company she recently launched along with London-based agent Charles Collier of Tavistock Wood; Vikander and Collier both produce for Vikarious. Patrik Andersson and Frida Bargo produce for Sweden’s B-Reel Films, and as Co-Producer Christine Ruppert for Dancing Camel.
Vikander previously collaborated with Langseth on two Swedish-language titles, PURE and HOTELL.
The Director of Photography is Rob Hardy who teams up with Vikander for a third time following EX MACHINA and TESTAMENT OF YOUTH. Also joining the creative team are Editor Dino Jonsäter, Production Designer Christian M. Goldbeck, Costume Designer Denise Östholm, Make-up designer Morna Ferguson, Hair Stylist Orla Carroll and Composer Lisa Holmqvist.
