Un ottimo programma quello annunciato da Thierry Frémaux in occasione della conferenza di presentazione del Festival di Cannes 2022. Come ampiamente annunciato, il Fuori Concorso comprende il nuovo film di Baz Luhrman, Elvis, e l’attesissimo Top Gun: Maverick. Come film di apertura è stato scelto quello di Michel Hazanvicius, mentre il Concorso sembra già avvincente, dal momento che comprende, tra gli altri, i nuovi film di David Cronenberg, Park Chan-Wook, Claire Denis e i fratelli Dardenne di casa da lungo tempo, oltre a un regista specialissimo come Jerzy Skolimowski.
L’Italia partecipa con Nostalgia di Mario Martone, ma è rappresentata in parte anche da Valeria Bruni Tedeschi con il suo The Almond Tree, sebbene sia una produzione francese. Il nuovo Bellocchio, Nightfall, è nella sezione Cannes Première.
Interessantissime le proiezioni di mezzanotte, che annoverano il finora misterioso progetto di Brett Morgen su David Bowie, girato in IMAX, che si intitolerà Moonage Daydream, e l’esordio alla regia di Lee Jung-Jae, grandissimo attore sudcoreano, finalmente alla ribalta mondiale dopo il planetario successo di Squid Game.
Curiosissimi anche per il documentario su uno dei più amati pianisti del rock: Jerry Lee Lewis: Trouble in Mind, diretto da Ethan Coen, tra le proiezioni speciali.
